  • Dry Season (June–October): Clear skies, little rain, and best wildlife viewing as animals gather around swamps.
  • Short Rains (November–December): Light showers bring fresh greenery and migratory birds, though wildlife remains visible.
  • Wet Season (March–May): Heavy rains may limit access, but the park is lush, with fewer crowds and excellent birdwatching.
  • Dry Season (June–October): Warm and dry, temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C; best time for wildlife viewing.
  • Short Rains (November–December): Mild with light showers, temperatures around 18°C to 28°C; landscapes turn green.
  • Wet Season (March–May): Hot and wet, with heavier rains, temperatures 23°C to 32°C; fewer visitors, excellent birdlife.

How to reach Lake Nakuru National Park

AIR

The nearest airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi), about 160 km from Lake Nakuru National Park. From Nairobi, you can hire a car, take a shuttle, or arrange a guided transfer to the park (approx. 3–4 hours drive).

TRAIN

Lake Nakuru National Park is well-connected by paved highways from Nairobi, Naivasha, and Nakuru town. Self-drive or private safari vehicles are popular options.

ROAD

The Nairobi–Eldoret railway line stops at Nakuru town, from where the park is about 50 km. Taxis or shuttle services are available.
