  • October–March: Cool and pleasant—ideal for exploring the mangroves, spotting Royal Bengal Tigers, and enjoying boat safaris.
  • April–May: Hot and humid, with a possibility of cyclones. This season is best avoided.
  • June–September: Heavy rains, rough waters, and limited accessibility make this season not recommended for visits.
  • Winter (November–February): Cool and comfortable, with temperatures between 15°C to 28°C.
  • Summer (March–June): Hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 38°C.
  • Monsoon (July–October): Heavy rainfall, high humidity, and dense greenery; temperatures hover around 25°C–32°C.

How to reach Sundarbans National Park

AIR

Nearest Airport: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata)

From Kolkata, the Sundarbans is about 100–120 km, depending on which part you want to visit.

TRAIN

Nearest Major Railway Station: Canning Railway Station (about 1.5–2 hours from Sundarbans)

You can take trains from Kolkata’s Sealdah Station to Canning.

ROAD

From Kolkata: Around 3–4 hours by car or bus.

Buses run from Esplanade/Kolkata to Gosaba, Canning, or Basanti.
